Helping Your New Recruits Succeed

Your success depends on THEIR success. This is the golden rule of team building.
A recruit who makes zero sales earns you zero commission. A recruit who makes 10 sales per month earns you a consistent override. Your job doesn’t end at recruitment. It begins there.

The First 48 Hours: Critical Window

Research shows that what happens in the first 48 hours determines whether a recruit stays active or quits.

Hour 1: The Welcome Call
“Welcome to the team! I’m excited to work with you. Let me ask — why did you join? What’s your goal?”
Listen. Their “why” is your motivation tool. Write it down.
Hour 2-6: The Setup
  • Add them to your team WhatsApp group
  • Send them the course link
  • Help them create their affiliate dashboard
  • Walk them through the product/service list
Hour 6-24: The First Focus
“Don’t try to learn everything. Pick ONE product and ONE service to start. Which ones feel easiest for you?”
Help them choose based on their strengths:
  • Hustler: Start with services (they can sell high-ticket)
  • Networker: Start with products (easy to promote to their list)
  • Learner: Start with products (build confidence fast)
  • Professional: Start with services (matches their credibility)
Hour 24-48: The First Practice
“Let’s role-play. I’ll be the customer. You try to sell me .”
Give feedback:
  • “That was good. But try asking a question first.”
  • “Your energy is great. Now let’s work on the close.”
  • “You explained the features well. Now connect it to their problem.”

The First Week: Daily Check-Ins

Day Your Action Their Goal
Day 1 Welcome call, setup Join, understand the system
Day 2 Check: Did they pick a product/service? Pick the hero offer
Day 3 Role-play sales conversation Practice pitch
Day 4 Ask: Who have they contacted? Make first outreach
Day 5 Celebrate any progress, coach through rejection Keep trying
Day 6 Review their first week Reflect and adjust
Day 7 Set Week 2 goals Plan next actions

The Celebration Rule:
Celebrate their first sale, even if it’s ₦500. Send a voice note. Post in the group. Make them feel like a winner.
“🔥 FIRST SALE ALERT! [Name] just sold their first ebook! ₦500 commission earned! This is just the beginning. Who’s next?”
Why this matters: Public recognition creates momentum. They want to earn the next celebration.

Ongoing Support: Building a Team Culture

Create a WhatsApp Group for Your Team
Group Rules:
  • Daily motivation posts (you or rotating members)
  • Weekly wins celebration (every Friday)
  • Question and answer thread (anyone can ask)
  • No negativity or complaints without solutions
Weekly Check-In Call (30 minutes)
Agenda:
  1. Wins (5 min): Who made sales? Who recruited? Celebrate.
  2. Challenges (10 min): What objections are you hearing? Role-play solutions.
  3. Learning (10 min): Share one new tip or strategy.
  4. Goals (5 min): What will you do this week? Public commitment.

The Performance Target: Why It Matters

Remember: A recruit only counts toward your promotion if they sell 3 products per week and 10 products per month.

Your job: Help them hit this target.

How:

Week Target Your Support
Week 1 1 product sale Daily check-ins, role-play, and celebrate first win
Week 2 2 product sales Review what’s working, adjust approach
Week 3 3 product sales They’re on track. Focus on consistency.
Week 4 4+ product sales They’re exceeding the target. Now recruit their own team.

If they’re struggling:

  • Diagnose: Are they contacting enough people? Is their pitch clear? Are they following up?
  • Coach: Don’t do it for them. Guide them to find their own way.
  • Encourage: “You made 10 contacts and got 9 no’s. That means you’re 10% closer to a yes. Keep going.”
